Win Tickets To A Show At The Magic Circle Plus A One-To-One Magic Lesson

Want to learn a new party trick plus have the chance to peek into the headquarters of the Magic Circle? Step this way…

Award winning magician Edward Hilsum has been hailed by Derren Brown as a “great act”.

Listen closely, for here are three facts about the secretive Magic Circle, an organisation that makes MI5 look like residents of Speaker’s Corner.

1. The global body for magicians has around 1500 members. They include one Piff The Magic Dragon who was awarded the Stage Magician Of The Year prize last week. And, verily, it was well deserved.
2. The Magic Circle’s motto is indocilis privata loqui. For those not privy to a private education and/or fluent in dead languages, those ominous words are not from any Hogwarts syllabus or found around the side of a pound coin. No. The three words roughly translate as “not apt to disclose secrets,” i.e. mum’s the word or there’s no supper for you.
3. You, patient reader, have a chance to step inside the Magic Circle’s hallowed walls and pick up a trick or two yourself. This may make you the envy of your friends, colleagues and countrymen. Or not.

On June 6, award-winning magician Edward Hilsum brings his UCL Variety show to the Magic Circle and you could be there to both see some nifty international talent and learn some magic from the man himself.

A full bill of conjuring talent will see some of the best of the current crop like Fay Presto (winner of the 2012 Close Up Magician prize from the Magic Circle) line up alongside up and coming performers. After the show, the winners will enjoy half an hour of one-on-one magic tuition with Hilsum.
