Over April and May, Joe Black will be bringing his latest show Ginfully Yours to venues in the UK and Ireland. He will be joined on this jaunt by Brighton’s House Of Grand Parade, a drag trio made up of Lydia L’Scabies, Rococo Chanel and Crystal Lubrikunt.
Recently seen stepping into Jonny Woo’s high heels at Boom & Bang, Black is more than a wickedly charming host. Indeed, this dark cabaret prince is a dab hand at perverting even the most innocent of songs to his nefarious ends.I n his hands, Jolene becomes a stalker anthem while You Are My Sunshine glitters with its evil intent. His last album Satan In A Sunday Hat featured a raft of eminent collaborators, not least Marcella Puppini, Aurelio Voltaire and Tiger Lillies’ Adrian Stout. We called it “a witty collection of rollicking, rousing and disturbing songs that need to be enjoyed in a sordid, sweaty cabaret club”.
Whether any of the venues on the Ginfully Yours tour qualify as sordid, sweaty cabaret clubs, we wouldn’t like to say but here are the full list of stops.
April 5: Marlborough Theatre, Brighton
April 11: Twisted Pepper, Dublin
April 19: Jamboree, London
April 20: Wedgwood Rooms, Portsmouth
April 26: Picturedrome, Northampton
