Talking exclusively to This Is Cabaret,Betsy Rose and Vicky Butterfly share their excitement for Saturdays show with us.

How are you feeling about Saturday night’s show?

Betsy Rose: I’m so very thrilled to have been asked to perform alongside such a spectacular performer as Catherine, a true legend of our time. I’m ever so excited! It is an absolute privilege to be able to join such a talented bill of performers.

Vicky Butterfly: I’m really looking forward to Saturday’s show: until I watched Catherine for the first time, I’d always seen striptease as a part of a story, but she made me realise that it could be a luxuriant journey in itself. To anyone working in burlesque now, Catherine D’Lish is an icon: she’s inspiring, witty and creative, and her hand has heavily shaped what we see as burlesque today.

How did the opportunity to perform in Catherine’s London show come about?

BR: Catherine and I met last year in Amsterdam when we were performing together in Sublime Boudoir. But this time it makes it all the more exciting to be performing alongside Catherine here in my home of smokey old London Town.

VB: Quite simply, it was a phone-call that came out of the blue! I was incredibly flattered that she knew of and liked my work.

How have your rehearsals gone in preparation for Saturdays show?

VB: It would be impossible not to be a bit nervous at the idea of sharing a stage with Catherine, so I am performing one of my favourite shows: as I perform the shows I love the most as often as I can I know my act inside out but I’m really looking forward to seeing how the shape of the whole show will come together. I’ve not performed with many of the acts on the bill before so it’s going to be as much of a treat for me as I hope it will be for the audience!

Catherine is renowned for her huge props and extravagant costumes; can you give us an insight as to what you will bring for the audience?

BR: Just like Catherine and Vicky, I shall be bringing my own style of burlesque to the show. Each of us is unique in our own ways.

VB: I think Catherine has put together a really varied show so I’m hoping to do something that will be a bit different yet complementary in style. I suppose I’d describe my acts as expressive, ethereal and innovative.

Can you give us an idea of what type of acts we can expect from you this Saturday night?

BR: I shall be performing one of my signature routines, typical in Vintage elegance – classic and dramatic!

VB: I like to keep things a bit of a surprise for people who might not have seen the show before, but I’d say expect lots of movement, a bit of spectacle and a few surprises!

So there you have it, the excitement shows and Saturday is definitely one not to miss! For the latest word on ticket availability, please check the Hippodrome Casino website.
