One of the finest Halloween costume balls in London returns again with another new theme.

Host Des O’Connor caused controversy at the Edinburgh Fringe this year with his song about radio DJ Jimmy Savile.

If the thought of shelling out for tickets to one of the biggest and best costume balls in London scares you silly, fear not. We have two tickets to give away to White Mischief’s latest Halloween extravaganza The Births, Marriages and Deaths Ball at the Scala on 26 October.

The Mischief makers have, as ever, excelled themselves in finding a diverse range of cabaret to entertain their well-dressed crowd. Host Des O’Connor has a razor-sharp taste in clothes and wit, slicing and dicing his chosen subjects through the medium of song. He will be introducing a strong bill featuring the likes of the literally electric sideshow antics of Voltini, storming steampunk musicians Perhaps Contraption, wily illusionists Duo Bogof and circus shenanigans from Gypsy Disco. Pin those ears back for more live tunage from interactive pentecostals Legs Akimbo and amped-up TV soundtrack purveyors Dream Themes.

And that’s not all. Part of the joy of a White Mischief event is wandering around a venue packed to the brim with hidden treats. Victorian theatre specialists Don’t Go Into The Cellar will be awaiting the presence of curious punters as will be light-magicians Department of Brilliant. There are stalls where you can get some fresh make-up or your face painted before diving into a photo studio to capture your new look.
