Cantina in 2012. Limbo in 2013. Limbo again in 2014. Those are some pretty big boots to fill yet that is exactly what Scotch & Soda will be aiming to do in a few months time at the London Wonderground’s Spiegeltent.
Described by The Guardian as having “a grungy cabaret aesthetic“, the show is a collaboration between Ben Walsh’s Crusty Suitcase Band, David Carberry and Chelsea McGuffin and its London run follows on from appearances last month in Edinburgh. The producers promise appearances by Cantina performers McGuffin and Mozes and an emphasis on music and circus – something which was at the core of Limbo‘s appeal last summer.
Scotch & Soda will run from May-August before making way for drag-circus spectacular Briefs.
Here’s the full spiel and a few photos:
“Scotch & Soda will bring their raucous, world-class mix of circus, dance and original music to London for the first time from 14 May until 2 August 2015. London Wonderground’s decadent Spiegeltent will host this glamorous evening of debauched and deadly fun jam-packed with jaw-dropping lunacy, incredible feats and live beats.
“A dusty desert bar. A chance encounter. A spectacular clash of spellbinding misfits, Scotch & Soda is a guaranteed whiskey-soaked evening of breathtaking feats, blinding charm and beatnik soul. Scotch & Soda features gravity-defying circus from some of Australia’s finest acrobats with previous appearances including Cantina, La Clique, Cirque and Tom Tom Crew with music from the renowned Crusty Suitcase Band.”
There are performances at 7.30pm Tuesday to Sunday and a 4pm Sunday Matinee. No performances on Mondays and on 2 June, 14 June, 15 June, 16 June, 17 June, 14 July and 28 July.
