The Fascinating Aïda trio (Dillie Keane, Liza Pulman and Adele Anderson) are dashing around the country with new show Charm Offensive.

In March 1983, a trio featuring Dillie Keane came together and soon began entertaining folk in a West End wine bar. Before long, they were on TV and Fascinating Aïda were on their way to their current status of international cabaret darlings able to quip just as easily about economics and the environment as cheap flights and dogging.

Their work has thrilled millions in theatres and on YouTube as well as judges in London and New York including those at this year’s London Cabaret Awards. Moreover, their songs have inspired more recent generations of cabaret singers like Camille O’Sullivan and Amanda Palmer to cover their songs.

Three decades on, as Dillie Keane and long-time collaborators Liza Pulman and Adele Anderson jump aboard the tour bus for another spin around the United Kingdom, we’re jumping for joy that the girls back in town. Ten years ago, Fascinating Aïda almost became sweet FA as Keane toyed with pulling the plug: asked whether she wanted to continue touring, she said that “it depends if I fancy it and I don’t at the moment.”

Thankfully, there’s still life in an act which continues to evolve and grow. For those yet to experience Fascinating Aïda or those considering whether to see them again, here is a morsel to savour ahead of the shows. Four million views can’t be wrong.
